Making a film in the Peaks! #ResignFilm

So for the past few weeks I’ve been working on the set build for a short film some third years are making as their final major project. I’ve been helping with the set construction for the studio shoot and on sunday 11 of us ventured to the Peak District for a few days to do the location shoot. It was quite hard work, mainly because the weather was against us, but i learnt a lot and it was also the best fun and I’ve made 10 friends. Here are some photographs I took of us whilst I was there, hopefully I’ll be able to post some better ones from the stills soon.

Einstein's Dreams ideas and procrastination

My new project has begun, it's a free project so basically I can choose whatever i want to do but it's based loosely around the book Einstein's Dreams. My ideas at the moment are mainly focused on creating a stop motion film set. I've wanted to do this for a long time and this project seems a prefect opportunity, so I'm quite excited. Although I've been home for a week and in the Peak district filming (a post will follow to tell you about the funs we had there) I've not done much work for this yet, although i have wasted about a week doing this drawing. fingers crossed I'll have some inspiration soon and burst into action.

set builds and peaks

For the past few weeks I've been working on the set build for a short film a few third years are making as their final major project. On sunday we'll be going to the Peak District for a few days to do the location shoot which i'm really looking forward to and should be loads of fun. Here are some test photography from the guys which gives an idea of what the film should look like finished.

Baboon puppet's made!

Today I've finished the puppet I've been making for HeartBreak Productions. He's 60cm from head to monkey toe and made from papermache and odd bits of material. He's controlled with two rods and has a moveable mouth. I've had a lot of fun making this puppet in the sunshine, here he is, little Derek.

Puppets!

Now all my actual uni work is done for a while I'm taking time to do things I really enjoy. A director has asked a few of us to make some puppets for him to use in his workshops, they can be any type, size and subject, which is very exciting.
I want to make an animal, probably a baboon.
These are some drawings i did yesterday to try and deicide which animal to make, a lot of people told me to do the sloth but he'd not be much fun a puppet, far too slow.
The puppets have to be finished by the 30th march so there'll be photos up soon of the finished thing

Madame Tussauds project ends

Quite disappointingly I'm not really very proud of my work for this project and I'm not expecting a great mark but oh well, too late now cause I handed it all in this morning. However bad my final outcome is, I've learnt a lot this project and I've pretty much decided I want to do exhibition design forever.

I may have already explained my idea, but this is the space I've designed for an exhibition at Madame Tussauds showing the development of the British fashion industry. I know already that they wont like my idea, It's way too cool and interesting, they prefer to exhibit unrealistic models of leona lewis.

I have no explanation for this drawing, I like to think I'm funny but I'm not

Music Video Project

Before christmas I was part of a collaborative project which involved creating a music video for the song Horrors of Love by Ryskee. A group of 7 of us created everything in the video, the concept, the sets, the costumes, the props, everything. We thought of it, made it, filmed it and edited it in 12 weeks with no budget.

This video quality is terrible so if anyone wants to watch it on vimeo here's the link.

Madame Tussauds project begins

My current project brief is to create an exhibition for Madame Tussauds London which would launch in 2020.
My idea is to make an interactive fashion catwalk space which shows wax figures from the British fashion scene.
These are some initial mood boards I've made.

Rhoda's character design

Some quite old character designs I did for a puppet show in march 2011, now I'm going to make an animated model of her, or maybe one of her friends.
